At Bango, we believe it will. Barack Obama is a smart guy and others will want to follow his visionary path and that will include mobile (all credit to iLoop Mobile for a great mobile service). One of the main reasons why businesses are holding back on mobile is that they just don’t believe it’s a communications medium that will deliver. Obama has proved otherwise.
A recent article on TMC.net (Interview: Obama Campaign Signals Start of Mobile Ad Revolution) interviewed Paran Johar, chief marketing officer at JumpTap on what’s holding back mobile advertising. Here’s what he said:
- We still need better targeting data to be successful and help advertisers reach their audience. Knowing basic geographic and demographic data is key in this process.
- We need to develop rich media creative units that are “beyond the mobile banner.” The same evolution happened in digital marketing and it’s essential for creative people to include mobile advertising in their strategies.
- Better analytics are needed for advertisers to accurately measure the reach and effectiveness of their mobile ad campaigns.
As a provider of mobile analytics we agree that it’ll play a pivotal role in making sure that marketers’ money is spent on well targeted ads that deliver the “R” in ROI.
